Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026

This policy explains what information CoverGuesser (coverguesser.com) collects, why it is used and which choices you have. By using the site, you agree to the practices described below.

Information you provide

You can play without signing up. If you create an account, we store the email used to log in, your nickname, the country you choose and, if you upload them, your profile picture and cover. This data appears on your profile and on the public leaderboards (except your email, which is never shown).

Game information

We record your progress so the game works: challenges played, attempts, wins, streaks, XP, trophies, titles, and the frame and theme you choose. Part of this is saved in your own browser (local storage) and, for accounts and leaderboards, in Firebase, a Google service used for the database and authentication.

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember preferences such as language, theme and progress. We also use third-party cookies for audience measurement and advertising, described below.

Google ads (AdSense)

CoverGuesser shows Google AdSense ads to keep the game free.

To learn more, see how Google uses cookies in advertising.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit the site and which pages are used most. You can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Third-party game data

Game information and images (covers, screenshots, year, platforms and developers) come from the public RAWG and IGDB databases. These services do not receive your personal data through CoverGuesser.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. It is processed only by the services named on this page (Firebase, Google Analytics and Google AdSense), which follow their own privacy policies.

Your rights and data deletion

You can log out at any time and erase progress saved in your browser by clearing the site's data. To delete your account, profile or leaderboard scores, email lucas@coverguesser.com with the nickname you used in the game.

Children

CoverGuesser is a general-knowledge game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version.
