About CoverGuesser
CoverGuesser is a free video game quiz for anyone who grew up with games, still plays them or simply loves them. The idea is simple: recognize a game from its cover, screenshots or soundtrack using memory, observation and a bit of deduction.
How it started
CoverGuesser is an independent project created and maintained by Lucas. It began as a hands-on way to learn programming and grew with the help of its players, who suggest games, report bugs and ask for new modes. The whole site is built with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
What you can play
- Daily Game: a new blurred cover every day with five attempts. Each mistake makes the image sharper and reveals new clues.
- Infinite Mode: endless runs with screenshots, three difficulty levels and five lives.
- Duel Mode: private rooms to face a friend in the same challenge, in real time.
- Calendar: previous days' challenges to play whenever you like.
Progression and community
Players with an account earn XP, reach level 20, unlock themes, photo frames and titles, collect 42 trophies and appear on the General and Infinite leaderboards with a custom profile.
Where the games come from
Daily challenges are hand-picked to cover different eras, genres and platforms without repeating games. Information and images come from the public RAWG and IGDB databases.
