CoverGuesser strategy guide
Each CoverGuesser mode asks for a different way of thinking. In the Daily Game you have time and clues; in Infinite Mode, the pressure of lives; in Duels, speed matters. This guide gathers strategies for all three.
Daily Game: use every attempt to eliminate
You have five attempts. The genre is visible from the start and, after each mistake, the cover gets less blurred and a new clue appears: release year, platforms, developer and, on the last try, the synopsis.
- Start with the genre and the colors. Before typing, combine the genre with the cover's palette to build a short list of candidates.
- Miss on purpose, wisely. If you are torn between two games from different eras, guess the more likely one: even if you are wrong, the next year clue eliminates half of the options.
- Read the platform carefully. A console exclusive rules out entire franchises at once.
- Save the synopsis for last. It only appears on the final attempt and usually hides names, so focus on places, goals and the type of story.
Infinite Mode: manage your lives
In Infinite Mode, each round shows screenshots of a game and you have five lives. Mistakes and skips cost a life, and correct answers raise your score.
- Pick the right difficulty. Easy features very well-known games; Normal mixes hits and less popular titles; Hard includes the whole catalog. To climb the leaderboard, a high Normal record can be worth more than a short Hard run.
- Read the interface. Health bars, minimaps, fonts and menus say a lot about a game's genre and era.
- Only skip when there is no clue. Skipping also costs a life, so take a guess whenever you have any idea.
Duel Mode: speed and composure
In Duels, you and a friend get the same games at the same time, with screenshots plus year, developer, platform and genre clues. Whoever gets more right wins.
- Read the clues before the images. Year and developer together are often enough to identify the game quickly.
- Don't get stuck on one round. If you don't know it, move on: the final score is what counts.
- Share the right code. Create the room, copy the code and send it to your friend; the match starts when they join.
Progression: XP, trophies and the calendar
Every win earns XP to level up and unlock themes, frames and titles. Some trophies reward specific play styles, such as guessing on the first try or playing several days in a row. Missed a day? The Calendar lets you play previous challenges, which also counts toward trophies.
